2-Fluoro- 3- (methylamino) - N- [4- [1, 2, 2, 2- tetrafluoro- 1- (trifluoromethyl) ethyl] - 2- (trifluoromethyl) phenyl] -benzamide is an intermediate in the synthesis of Broflanilide (B677570), a pesticide for controlling animals and microbial pests such as unwanted insects. Broflanilide is a prominent insecticide because of it's effective against pests with resistance to cyclodienes and fipronil. Broflanilide is metabolized to desmethyl-broflanilide that acts as a noncompetitive resistant-to-dieldrin (RDL) γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor antagonist.
