4-acetyl-2-propyl-1H-imidazole-5-carbonitrile is an impurity of Olmesartan Medoxomil. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist which has been used for the treatment of high blood pressure. It is a metabolite of Olmesartan, which is a specific angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist with antihypertensive effect. hAT1 receptors: IC50 = 6.18 nM.
