RNase A is an endonuclease that cleaves RNA but not DNA. RNase A specifically cuts pyrimidine ribonucleotides at the 3'-adjacent phosphodiester bond Py/pN, with the intermediary formation of nucleoside-2',3'-cyclophosphate.
