Explanation Type II casein kinase (CK-2) is unique among the protein kinases since it can use ATP as well as GTP as a phosphoryl donor. It is extremely sensitive to heparin inhibition and can be activated by polyamines and basic polypeptides. This peptide contains the consensus phosphorylation sequence for CK2 and can be used as the substrate for CK2 a-subunit.
