TRP1 Antibody (G-9)

The TRP1 Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 κ antibody that detects the TRP1 protein from mouse, rat, and human sources using WB, IP, IF, IHC(P), and ELISA methods. TRP1, also known as CAS2, TYRP1, Catalase B, or DHICA oxidase, is involved in melanin biosynthesis, crucial for pigmentation in vertebrates. Tyrosinase (TYR), another key enzyme, catalyzes the initial step of melanin production by hydroxylating tyrosine. Mutations affecting TYR activity lead to various forms of albinism.
In melanocytes, TYR-related proteins TRP1 and TRP2 are expressed and contribute to melanin synthesis within melanosomes. These proteins share similarities such as a transmembrane domain, two metal-binding regions, and a cysteine-rich epidermal growth factor motif. However, they exhibit distinct enzymatic activities critical for melanin polymerization. TRP1 aids in stabilizing TYR, suggesting they may function together in a multi-enzyme complex within melanosomal membranes.
Overall, TRP1 Antibody (G-9) targets TRP1 across species and is utilized in various experimental techniques to study its role in melanin biosynthesis and melanocyte function.
