Dansyl-Ala-Arg-OH is a fluorescent substrate of carboxypeptidase M, and its fluorescence intensity is the same as the cleavage product Dansyl-Ala-OH (λex = 340 nm; λem = 495 nm), the product has to be extracted with chloroform. The uncleaved substrate is still in the aqueous phase (acidic pH).
