Pegaptanib sodium is an RNA aptamer directed against vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-165, the VEGF isoform primarily responsible for pathological ocular neovascularization and vascular permeability. It can be used in the research of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
