Zebrafish Testicular Feeder Cells (ZtA6-10)
ZtA6 cells are derived from spontaneous tumor-like hypertropheied testis isolated from albino-type (alb-1/alb-1) zebrafish. Clones were analyzed for the expression of the Sertoli cell marker (Sox9a), the germ cell marker (Vas), and the Wilm’s tumor suppressor marker (WT1). 12 clones were derived and have distinctive properties and are available.
ZtA6-10 is clone 10 derived from the ZtA6 zebrafish testicular cells. Expression of WT1 and Sox9a were observed, but did not have significant phagocytic activity. The cells are able to support differentiation of germ cells into functional sperm for in vitro fertilization, thus is a suitable tool for research in in vitro fertilization and vertebrate spermatogenesis. Additionally, it may be used for genetic manipulation and studies on testicular biology.
