Total Iron-binding Capacity (TIBC) Assay Kit

Total Iron-binding Capacity (TIBC) Assay Kit can be used to detect Total Iron-binding Capacity (TIBC) in serum using a microplate reader. Iron is added to the serum sample, which binds to bind all the ferritin present in the serum, and excess iron is adsorbed by adding the iron adsorbent. Iron bound to ferritin is separated from other proteins in the sample by the addition of acid solution and reducing agent. Fe3+ is reduced to Fe2+, which binds with bipyridine to form a pink complex. The intensity of the color is proportional to the TIBC.
