BDNF (human)

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor, also known as BDNF, is a protein that, in humans, is encoded by the BDNF Gene. BDNF is a member of the neurotrophin growth factor family, which binds and activates TrkB and p75 neurotrophin receptors. It can enhances the survival, growth and differentiation of neurons. BDNF has been shown to play a role in neuroplasticity, which allows nerve cells in the brain to compensate for injury.
