8-OH-cAMP is a polar analogue of cAMP used for the study of extracellular cAMP receptors. When applied by patch clamp techniques, 8-OH-cAMP remains trapped inside the cell. It exhibits a resistant effect of mammalian cyclic nucleotide-dependent phosphodiesterases.
