Hecogenin acetate
Hecogenin acetate is a steroid sapogenin isolated from Agave sisalana. It was shown to normalize GSH levels, significantly reduce lipid peroxidation and nitrite levels in the stomach, increase COX-2 expression and protect the gastric mucosa in mouse models of ethanol- and indometacin-induced gastric ulcer.
