Recombinant Human HTR2A, His-tagged

This gene encodesone of the receptors for serotonin, a neurotransmitterwith many roles.Mutations in this gene are associated with susceptibility toschizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and arealso associated with response to the antidepressant citalopram in patientswith major depressive disorder (MDD). MDDpatients who also have a mutation in intron 2 of this gene show asignificantly reduced response to citalopram as this antidepressant downregulatesexpression of this gene. Multiple transcript variants encodingdifferent isoforms have been found for this gene.
