It functions as a protein that shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm. SOX-10 plays a significant role in melanocytic lineages and serves as a sensitive marker for melanoma, including conventional and desmoplastic subtypes. In normal tissues, SOX-10 expression is observed in melanocytes and myoepithelial cells.
