Methylthioadenosine

Methylthioadenosine is a naturally occurring sulfur-containing nucleoside that is present in all mammalian tissues. MTA can effectively inhibit tumor growth in vivo. MTA induces cytostatic rather than pro-apoptotic effects and inhibits the expression of Akt and S6 ribosomal proteins. Phosphorylates and induces downregulation of cyclin D1.
