Anandamide-d4

Anandamide (N-arachidonylethanolamine, AEA) is a brain lipid that binds to cannabinoid receptors with high affinity and mimics the psychoactive effects of plant-derived cannabiniod drugs, which is a fatty acid neurotransmitter derived from the non-oxidative metabolism of eicosatetraenoic acid (arachidonic acid), an essential omega-6 fatty acid. Anandamide inhibits the specific binding of [3H]-HU-243 to synaptosomal membranes with a Ki value of 52 nM.
