anti-CD5 immunotoxin HB21 (IgG)-Gel
This immunotoxin was achieved by conjugating/fusing the Anti-CD5 monoclonal antibody to gelonin. It was expressed in CHO and purified with affinity chromatography. The immunotoxin selectively binds to T cells which express the CD5 antigen. Once bind, the toxin enters cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis, then gelonin inhibits protein synthesis by damaging the 60S subunit of mammalian ribosomes. It was designed for treatment of T cell leukemias or lymphomas, graft-versus-host diseases, and autoimmune diseases.
