Trimethyloleylammonium chloride is a biodegradable, water-soluble organic solvent that can be used in the formulation of pharmaceutical products. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of fungi and bacteria. Trimethyloleylammonium chloride is used as a carrier for fungicides, such as tebuconazole, which act by inhibiting fungal respiration and cell membrane function, respectively. This compound also has an inhibitory effect on bacterial cell membranes, which may be due to its ability to disrupt the lipid bilayer.
