Ester-based biodiesel

Ester-based biodiesel, the main substance present in biodiesel, is a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) or fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE) produced by transesterification of biomass feedstocks, such as vegetable oils, animal fats or waste cooking oils, with methanol or ethanol. These esters have similar combustion properties to conventional diesel, but are more environmentally friendly.
