(S)-12-Methyltetradecanoic acid
AFA (Anteiso fatty acid) is a chiral molecule and the (S)-enantiomers are the primary form. A methyl-substituent is present at the antepenultimate carbon of the carboxyalkyl chain. (S)-12-Methyltetradecanoic acid is found in food and bacteria. (S)-12-Methyltetradecanoic acid plays a major role in the growth of Listeria monocytogenes even at low temperatures.
