Anti-ATPIF1 Antibody
ATPIF1 is an interesting protein that acts on ATP synthase and prevents it from catabolizing ATP when the mitochondrial membrane potential falls below a threshold, which ATP synthase starts to do by hydrolyzing ATP to pump protons out of the mitochondrial matrix to restore ion balance. ATPIF1 also indirectly regulates heme synthesis by modulating the mitochondrial pH and redox potential. ATPIF1 is expressed in the mitochondria and its activity is determined by conformation. Homodimers are active, homotetramers are inactive and their formation is governed by pH. ATPIF1, because of its effects on ATP and heme, is important in cellular development, heme biosynthesis, energy metabolism, and angiogenesis, and erythrocytes differentiation.
