Explanation Angiotensin 1-7 (Ang-(1-7)) is a major active component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), produced from cleavage of Ang II by angiotensin-converting-enzyme type 2 (ACE2). Angiotensin 1-7 inhibits purified canine ACE activity (IC50=0.65 μM). Angiotensin 1-7 acts as a local synergistic modulator of kinin-induced vasodilation by inhibiting ACE and releasing nitric oxide. Angiotensin 1-7 blocks Ang II-induced smooth muscle cell proliferation and hypertrophy and shows antiangiogenic and growth-inhibitory effects on the endothelium. Angiotensin 1-7 shows anti-inflammatory activity.
Solubility Soluble to 1 mg/ml in water
BiologicalActivity Endogenous peptide fragment. Induces vasorelaxation through release of NO and prostaglandins, perhaps through activation of a non-AT1, non-AT2 receptor, Mas. Counteracts the vasoconstrictive and proliferative effects of angiotensin II and stimulates vasopressin (anti-diuretic hormone) release in vivo.
