Recombinant Human Complement C5/C5a is a recombinant human complement C5a. C5a is a 74-amino acid glycoprotein generated on activation of the C system. Complement C5 is cleaved by proteolysis in the terminal phase of complement activation generating the pro-inflammatory C5a and membrane attack complex nucleator C5b. C5a is an inflammatory mediator generated by complement activation that positively regulates various arms of immune defense, including Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling[1][2].
