CP 465022, with anticonvulsant activity, is a potent, brain penetrant, orally active and selective noncompetitive AMPA receptor antagonist (IC50 = 25 nM in rat cortical neurons). CP 465022 provides neuroprotective efficacy after cerebral ischemia on the basis of the activity in experimental ischemia models.
