TFMB-R-2-HG is a cell-permeable form of (R)-2-hydroxyglutarate ((R)-2-HG), a promoter of leukemogenesis. (R)-2-HG competitively inhibits α-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenases, including lysine demethylases and DNA hydroxylases.
